Riders on Gadsden Transportation Services’ trolley and DART buses will soon have to resume paying for those modes of travel.

GTS announced in a news release on Friday that fares will be reinstituted on Oct. 3. They had been suspended because of the COVID-19 pandemic and because of limited services.

The standard trolley bus fare will be $1, one way, each time a rider boards. The standard DART bus fare will be $2, one way, each time a rider boards.

GTS in the release said DART bus passes purchased prior to the pandemic will be honored through Nov. 3, but will not be accepted afterward.

Trolley tokens also will be accepted, at an exchange rate of 25 cents per token (it will take four to ride).

In addition, riders will be able to pay fares and board a bus using the Token Transit smartphone app, which is available on both Apple’s App Store and Google Play.
