ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The Second Saturday ArtWalk trolley returns to St. Petersburg for the first time in two-and-a-half years.

The service was interrupted in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic and, later, a driver shortage, the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance shared on Facebook.

SPAA has contracted with Star Trolley to reinstate the trolley service for those attending the monthly art event, which features arts venues in the Central Arts, EDGE Business, Grand Central, Warehouse Arts, Uptown Arts and downtown Waterfront districts.

Beginning July 9, branded white trolley will bring art lovers throughout St. Pete to the more than 40 ArtWalk venues. The trolley will start at 5 p.m. and make continuous loops until 9 a.m.

The Waterfront District galleries can also be seen by using the free Downtown Looper, which runs every 15 minutes, the organization said.

There will be just one trolley running during ArtWalk, “so wait times between stops may be up to (one) hour, which gives you plenty of time to relax, explore and support our artists through a purchase,” SPAA said.

Eventually, a second trolley will be used during the monthly event as funding becomes available.
